Grace the Establishment

If it isn't your local, you may want to move just for the bar snacks

First published on . Updated on .

Grace the Establishment is doing a lot of things extremely well - namely food, drinks and decor. It is a lovely bar set in a beautiful white terrace right in the heart of Norwood and is the very embodiment of smart-casual. It is resolutely decked out in white and grey, sitting somewhere between Hamptons and warehouse chic. Splashes of green are provided by the plants scattered throughout the bar but otherwise things are kept nice and neutral. Drinking in a great Adelaide bar should be accompanied by a great South Australian beer so we recommend you grab a schooner of Vale Ale or for something less dry, the Hills Cider Co. apple cider - they go down very easily, helped along by a low carbon footprint for the environmentally conscious. It's a tough choice between the huge communal tables, hidden couplets in the front courtyard, high stools or tables in the beautiful atrium styled dining room but if the weather is nice (or even if it's kind of average) try for a table in the back courtyard and order a pitcher of the Aperol Spritz. Brilliantly orange and refreshingly bitter, it's the perfect accompaniment to a relaxed afternoon and helps wash down the top notch bar snacks. The Grace wasn't leaving anything to chance when they designed their menu. To class the Grace’s Wagyu cheeseburger slider in with other burgers would be absurd. It's about the size of your fist and is cooked the proper American way, slightly rare in the centre with cheese melted over the patty while still on the grill. Add a generous heap of pickles and you have in your hot little hand a very good argument for the superiority of the American way of life.
