Byron Bay is the playground for the enlightened, the school-leavers and blues fans everywhere.
In prime position on the NSW North Coast, Byron Bay is the holiday destination for everyone, be they new age types after some yoga and crystal healing, backpackers after a bit of coastal paradise, or school leavers ready to cut loose. It's also a popular spot to tie the knot, but it isn't until the April long weekend that Byron really reaches capacity with the Bluesfest. The biggest names in blues, roots, rock and country all head to Byron and scores of music fans follow, complete with gumboots and tents.
