Housed in Southbank, the state's two flagship galleries are now known collectively as QAGOMA. The austere and breathtaking concrete QAG features huge spaces and an elegant indoor pond. The massive GOMA is a marvellous piece of modern architecture with terrific river views. Together they showcase blockbuster shows from around the world from Picasso and Monet to Warhol, as well as the unmissable Asia-Pacific Triennial. GOMA has a cinematheque and a children's discovery room – it's as family friendly as a contemporary art gallery can get.
