Sky Room

This has to be one of the most attractive bars Brisbane has to offer. As you enter the top level bar (via service lift off Brunswick Street), you may be greeted by some laid-back swing jazz, courtesy of the live band in the corner. Sink back in one of the 60s armchairs or take a seat on the slender, candlelit balcony and enjoy a bird's eye view of the Valley. It's not hard to imagine a dressed down Don Draper drinking here on holiday. The thing is, it's all let down by the can't-do service. It's been a long time since Time Out's been made to feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable in a bar. From the bad attitude, to the lack of attention when it comes to making the drinks, it's a real disappointment. This has long since been one of our favourite bars in town which, up until very recently, has offered the whole package. A shift in attitude and a bit more care with drinks orders is all it would take to bring Sky Room back up to speed.
