Get punky

So, what the heck is steampunk? Well, in brief it's a science fiction and fantasy genre, which places anachronistic technology in the Western and Victorian eras. But this Laneway Learning will be delving a little deeper into the genre. Maria Yebra, a steampunk aficionado, will be teaching the class and bringing her love for clockwork, Jules Verne and making costumes with her.

The class will cover an explanation of what steampunk is, the origins of the genre, styles and symbols associated with it and literature it draws inspiration from. For newcomers to the steampunk scene, it will also demonstrate how you can participate in the scene through events and provides costume tips for these events.
