Examine Melbourne's rich musical history through this Melbourne Free University course. Bringing together some of the city’s finest songwriters, musicians, radio presenters, venue owners and academics, the course will explore the relationship between music, memory and place.

Speakers and sessions include:

13 Mar - A special music, memory, place panel with singer-songwriter David Bridie; solo artist and Weddings Parties Anything frontman Mick Thomas; and Triple R's Fee B-Squared.

20 Mar - The Birth of Uncool: How TISM (pictured) gatecrashed Melbourne music. With Damian Cowell (writer, performer).

27 Mar - Sticky Carpets: On Music Venues. Jon Perring (co-owner Bar Open, Pony, Yah Yah’s, the Tote Hotel; Music Victoria; Fair Go 4 Live Music; musician), Dolores San Miguel (author; former booker of legendary St Kilda venue the Ballroom), Dr Shane Homan (Monash University; musician).

3 Apr - Trying to make sense of it all: Conclusions on music, memory, place with Dr Stuart Grant.
