Commemorating 52 years since Australia entered the Vietnam War

On 18 August 1966, 108 Australian and New Zealand soldiers fought in the battle of Long Tan. The battle cost 18 Australians their lives, with 24 left wounded. Originally known as Long Tan Day, the date now honours all men and women who served during the Vietnam conflict. A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance from midday.
