Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

If you are a girl who rides a bike, you have somewhere you need to be on the 30th of August. Because while your biggest qualm with riding might be your helmet hair or practical shoes, women in Afghanistan don’t even get the chance.

Dare to Ride is an event for women of all ages and bicycles to support the Afghan Women’s Cycling Team. Women in Afghanistan are restricted by cultural norms that make riding, whether it’s competitive or just cruising, almost impossible. The event is part of an international movement called the Global Solidarity Ride for women’s rights.

If that’s not motivation enough, you will be fuelled by St Ali coffee, cake and the warm fuzzies you get when you do something awesome, and it’s free.
