Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

Where else can you find cute animals, crazy rides, celebrity chefs and cake competitions in the same spot?

The Royal Melbourne Show attracts almost half a million visitors each year and offers a smorgasbord of entertainment for the entire family – carnival rides, showbags and a huge farm animal precinct, for a start. The biggest carnival in the city's calendar will host the usual favourites, including dog competitions, rollercoasters, showbags, the wood chop competition – but will also launch the Winning Tastes Pavilion: a hub for some of Melbourne's best restaurants, chefs, brewers and more.

Ticket options are many: RACV members receive big discounts, and from $50, you can grab a 'Ticket to Ride', which includes lots of ride credit for thrill-seekers. Foodies won't want to go pass the 'Ticket to Taste' for $49, and night owls can hit up the Show for cheap. That said, bring your pocket money: the Showbag Pavilion will be packed with 350 showbags, ranging from the classic Bertie Beetle right up to gourmet food or drink packages.
