You know what? You do your bit for the environment, cycling instead of driving, yet you cop a lot of flak as a result. So this scheme is for you.
PARK(ing) Day is an enterprise from CycleStyle that pampers cyclists with valet parking, a red carpet and a pop-up park – using car park spaces in Fitzroy's Gertrude Street.
“We want to show people that bikes are fun, cheap, convenient, ease congestion, bring businesses more customers and generally play with the concept of ‘parking’ and ‘parks’,” says Joyce Watts of CycleStyle. “So we’re going to give cyclists the VIP treatment with their own valet parking service and build an adjoining temporary grassy park for everyone to enjoy, cyclist or not.”
The CycleStyle/Roll Up PARK(ING) day site has been made possible with the support of The City of Yarra and the Awesome Foundation Melbourne.
