Australian actor and author William McInnes will give an address this Australia Day at Federation Square. He'll be speaking on the topic of what it means to be Australian – something he's well equipped to do, having starred in some of the country's best-loved dramas, including Blue Heelers and Sea Change.
However, it's McInnes' latest novel, The Laughing Clowns, that's the idea at play here, as it conveys Australians' unique culture and humour. He's also the Chair of the Advisory Council of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, which aims to promote the importance of democratic values and civics education.
