January 26th is variously known as Australia Day, Survival Day and Invasion Day. The arrival of the First Fleet marked the beginning of land theft, the obliteration of communities, violence and racism and led to the devastation of the Stolen Generations. In recognition of this people from across Melbourne will be rallying with flags and banners in the streets of Fitzroy. There will also be speakers and forums to open up discussions about important issues facing Indigenous Australians today.
