Intelligence Squared Debates: Anzac Day is More Puff Than Substance

This event has finished

After ANZAC day celebrations have passed, the Wheeler Centre will be hosting a debate exploring the pros and cons of the day and its position at forefront of our national identity and consciousness.

For the proposition will be Professor Marilyn Lake (historian and author of What’s Wrong with Anzac), Graham Wilson (ex-Australian Army and Department of Defence, historian and writer) and Jeff Sparrow (writer and editor of Overland).

Against the proposition will be Dr Brendan Nelson (director of the Australian War Memorial and former ambassador and politician), John Martinkus (conflict zone journalist and cinematographer) and Dr Janet Butler (World War I historian and author of Kitty’s War).
