That’s right, Tavi Gevinson (pictured) – the BFF of cool, articulate young women everywhere – is coming to Melbourne. If it wasn’t demoralising enough for us struggling creatives that the Illinois-based 17-year-old became an international fashion icon at the age of 11 with her blog The Style Rookie, she’s also the founder of Rookie Magazine. What's that? Oh, just an indispensible website for teenage girls (and anyone who appreciates thoughtful and fun writing on growing up, popular culture and make-up application). She's also an actress and singer, FYI.
Tavi is giving a keynote speech at the Melbourne Writers Festival, which we hope will point us on the path to similar success, right down to informing us on what kind of coffee we should be starting our day with. But at the very least, it will be interesting.
PLEASE NOTE: Limited release tickets are now sold out. Further tickets to this event will be released on Friday 19 July, 9am.
