Some may say that creative thinking in modern times is limited to dinner party philosophy after a bottle of cheap red. This is a concept that the Creative Innovation Asia Pacific 2013 Global event (Ci2013 to its friends) intends to battle – with the pen rather than the sword.
The only forum of its kind, Ci2013 is an interactive community promising to teach delegates to “leverage their often hidden ‘right-brained’ creative capabilities to help alter traditional mindsets”. If you don’t understand what that means, then perhaps you could really use the help.
This year's conference will be themed 'Race to the Future', focusing on everything important for our future that coincidentally all begin with the letter 'E'; environment, energy, economy, education, entrepreneurship and ethical leadership. Excellent!
Ci2013 combines the talents of world-class leaders, artists, thinkers and innovators, including Dr Bjorn Lomburg (environmentalist and author), Sanjit 'Bunker' Roy (founder of the Barefoot College), Lisa Paul (secretary of the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relation), Dr Alan Finkel AM (chancellor of Monash University, president of Australia Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering), Elizabeth Broderick (Australia's sex discrimination commissioner), just to name a few. There will also be performances from the Blue Man Group and Pot-Pourri.
