Already fancy yourself a master of the head-bob or the gyrating hips? Too bad: on a night that’s all about discovery, there’s no way you’re getting away with those well-worn dance moves. Ausdance Victoria is back with the hugely successful I Could Have Danced All Night, where you’ll be taught 12 different dance styles from all over the world. Cast off your inhibitions, get into the groove, and wonder where the night has gone as the first rays of sunlight catch you mid-salsa.
Andy, I Could Have Danced All Night was a big hit last year. Will it follow the same format this time around?
We are keeping the same type of framework as last year with added punch and lots of brilliant dance styles.
Can you run through the 12 different kind of dances your Ausdance members will be coaching people on?
Now that would be giving the game away! The best part about White Night is not knowing what will happen on the night – you get sucked up in the whole event and dance your socks off. Each hour you will get a different dance style and a different dance teacher.
What song or dance would likely prove to be the biggest hit?
I’m going for Toploader’s ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’.
You came from Aberdeen this year to take the role of CEO of Ausdance Victoria. What has this first year been like?
It’s been really exciting – the Victoria dance scene is very impressive and I’ve met wonderful dance companies, choreographers and teachers. We are here to support, develop and nurture all dance styles across the whole of Victoria to create a vibrant dance sector.
