Aaron Moodie & Colin Trechter - Creative's Guide to Melbourne

People Collective is Aaron Moodie & Colin Trechter, a collaboration that grew from a chance meeting while Colin was visiting Melbourne from Minnesota. After a year of trans-global design and typographic banter, Aaron and Colin teamed up in September 2009. Now they work across a range of disciplines including graphic design, art direction, custom typography, illustration, logotypes, web and event design. The frequency with which this duo arrive to work wearing near matching outfits has, they admit, “become unsettling”.

AARON & COLIN'S TOP 5:

1 • THE ABBOTSFORD CONVENT
With Aaron living in Abbotsford and Colin a frequent (if uninvited) guest, it’s difficult to avoid the Convent’s amazing food, good folks and cool events.

2 • BEACH ROAD
Little beats a beautiful bike-ride (with the right soundtrack) through gorgeous scenery. Cycling this trail has replaced our previous favourite spot to sit and think: the ride-on lawnmower.

3 • MERRI CREEK TRAIL
A favourite trail to cycle to work in the morning. Riding past the flowing Yarra, Dights Falls and paddocks full of live-stock rekindle memories of our country hometowns.

4 • FELICES
This adorable little all-purpose bar/cafe is perfect for a quiet, civilised glass of wine, some foosball and delicious eats.

5 • THE NICHOLAS BUILDING ROOFTOP
Home to the first People Collective studio, the gothic Nicholson Building boasts fantastic views from it’s rooftop... although you’ll have to make it past the lovely lift operators for a visit!
