Time Out Melbourne

Can ditching bottled water for tap make a difference?

Imagine paying one cent for a litre of water. With some cafés selling bottled water for more than $5 a pop, it's a bargain no one could pass up. So why do we?

Sydney Water is asking you to take the Tap Pledge and support sustainability, reduce waste and save your own monies by drinking tap water instead of bottled. With delicious fluoride-filled water available on tap, on demand, it seems a little silly that bottled water has become such a craze.

To promote their cause, they've put together an interactive website where you can find out how much energy, landfill and money you'll save just by making the change to tap water.

It may have started in rival town Sydney, but Time Out reckons Melbourne's water is just as good (if not better) than Sydney's. So why not take the pledge, ditch the plastic and check out the difference you can make by switching to tap.
