Time Out Melbourne

The search is on for the world’s green heroes

With its thousands of extinct animal specimens, London’s Natural History Museum is perhaps the ideal setting for this year’s International Green Awards. The organisers of the ceremony, which takes place on 24 November, are seeking nominations for global organisations and businesses that have made a difference in 2011 by creatively promoting sustainability. Last year’s awards featured entrants as diverse as Morrisons supermarkets, a scheme for green pedestrian crossings in China, and Sir David Attenborough (who accepted a Lifetime Achievement accolade). The competition – judged by a panel of luminaries including Arianna Huffington – is open to organisations of any size. The deadline for nominations is 17 September.
