Time Out Melbourne

Christian Capurro: SLAVE and Optical Mix

This event has finished

SLAVE is a series of videos shot on a mobile phone. They're of works by American minimalist Dan Flavin, refashioned into large-scale filmic reproductions by local artist Christian Capurro during a residency at Maumaus, Escola de Artes Visuals, Lisbon. It will be showing as part of ACCA’s Influential Australian Artists program, along with Optical Mix – an exhibition of major artists who have utilised light and visual tricks. Featuring in Optical Mix, with two large light pillars showcasing individual pixel artwork, are Jesse Stevens and Dean Petersen, the team behind Cake Industries. Other featured artists include the great Op artist Bridget Riley, controversial UK artist Martin Creed, NZ's Daniel von Sturmer, and dazzling Sydney artist Nike Savvas.
