Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

We’ve been cat crazy for centuries, but it could be safe to say that Melbourne’s feline fever is running hotter than ever. Only last week a Brunswick gallery hosted the Cat Stuff Market, where you could find anything from cat prints to cute tabby toys. It was more successful than Garfield getting down with a plate of lasagne. Not to mention the Cat Café, a tabby hangout where your afternoon tea and cat-petting can exist paw in paw.

As of early September, Collingwood’s Off the Kerb gallery is making their first foray into cat-themed artwork. Their 100 Cats exhibition will feature artwork with no less than 100 cats – only fitting for their 100th exhibition! And we’re not just talking about cats eating cheezburgers, or running around in boots (although we’re not excluding this). There’ll be print, performance and video art from 53 world-class artists including Aaron Billings, David Lee Pereira, Emily Wright, Kat Scarlet, Mulga and Sally Land, rendering cats in ways you never through possible. Plus, as Off the Kerb is an artist-run initiative, all proceeds will be donated to local charities. Indeed, all profits from 100 Cats are going to Ingrid’s Haven – a no kill cat shelter.

For the LOL of cats, come down and support this feline-friendly cause.
