Never discount country Victoria for an exclusive art exhibition! Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) is playing host to The Golden Age of Colour Prints, a collection of fine Japanese prints, where famous artists Torii Kiyonaga, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshashusai Sharaku and their contemporaries will be featured, displaying pieces from the Tenmei and Kansei eras (1781-1801). The works, once thought to be only for popular consumption based on their depictions of entertainment and the pleasure quarter, are now world renowned. Not only that, but the SAM will be putting on a complementary exhibition that'll show you the influence the Japanese had on Australian ceramic practices.
