Time Out Melbourne

Are you game for a whimsical art opening?

Katrina Rhodes' beautifully detailed acryllic paintings marry medieval-style portraits with her concept of avian humanoids – people wearing masks of ducks and other fowls associated with game hunting.

It's a theme that appeals to Fowles – the Stathbogie-based winemakers who are advocates of responsible hunting and sustainable food. It's also the perfect match for their Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch and Are You Game? wines.

Opening night of Rhodes' exhibition at No Vacancy gallery on Friday August 23 at 6.30pm will feature cool climate wines from Fowles Wines. Space is limited, so call 03 9663 3798 to ensure a place.

The show marks Rhodes' return to No Vacancy after her solo effort A Handful of Civilised Friends in 2011. The artist describes herself as "a student of time and whimsy" and never studied art in an institution.
