World Gin Day– need we say more?

Calling all gin addicts– the annual World Gin Day is upon us and it’s time to cancel all other commitments and celebrate everything juniper-based. We’re talking martinis, slings, sours and fizzes all the way through to the classic G&T.

Serendipitously, Australia has launched several local gins in the last few years, and WGD is a great excuse to try some of our favourites.

West Winds Gin: One of the first Australian gins on the market to go big, using native botanicals such as wattle seed and bush tomato to set them apart from the rest.

Melbourne Gin Company: This is a new kid on the block, made by wine maker Andrew Marks from the Yarra Valley, perfect for martinis, negronis and the ol’ G&T cos that’s how he likes his gin.

Kangaroo Island Spirits: A South Australian micro distillery that uses fresh, local juniper in its distillation process; hard to find, but worth the hunt.

Four Pillars Gin: The most hipster gin of all! This gin was successfully crowd funded in 2013 with notes of native pepper berry leaf, lemon myrtle and fresh orange.

Stone Pine: This is a small-batch, pot-distilled gin from Bathurst that is citrus driven compared to the others, best had in a gin and tonic.
