Time Out Melbourne

Going to Meredith? Sick of drinking alcoholic fizzy water? We've got a craft beer tinnie for any musical situation

If you want to drink something decent at Meredith, you're in luck. There are finally some great craft beers in cans hitting our shores, and our best bottle shops are stocking up for the Meredith rush. Yes, they're more expensive, but three days in, your livers will thank us. Get ordering!

The Primal Scream pint: Piston Head Full Throttle Lager

This skull-totin' Swedish sipper looks and sounds like bad news, but like Primal Scream, it’s secretly smooth – and malty. $60/slab.

The Angus Sampson ale: Brewdog Punk IPA

Meredith’s own dear shaggy St Bernard-like festival punker shares all the sweet, robust and alcoholic qualities of this delicious Scottish brew. $18/4 pack; $99/slab.

The Grimes grog: Yo-Ho Aooni

Packing a little hop, citrus and tang, Aooni comes from a tiny micro-brewery in Japan in a smiley faced can. It looks as cute as a biscuit but still packs a punch. $129/slab.

The Chet Faker thirst slaker: Brooklyn Lager

This malty brew from the fixie-lovin’ borough of Brooklyn is embraced by beardy ironic hipsters everywhere. They even serve it at Huxtaburger. Might as well have Faker’s face on it. $89/24 pack.

The Regurgitator refresher: Devil’s Bit strong Irish cider

If you’ve sucked a lot of …beers… already, you might want to switch it up for some strong Irish cider – these dry tallboys run rings around Three Oaks. $70/slab.
