Hey, friends. Got an awesome beer event you want to pitch into the ring for next festival de brew, Good Beer Week? You’ve only got until the 30th of November to come up with your proposition.
Maybe you want to throw a craft beer craft session? If you own a hospitality venue, you should definitely do that because we can guarantee that at least two Time Out staff members will show up with Clag paste and drinking boots at the ready. If you don’t have a hospitality venue, you should probably just do what we’re doing right now, and helpfully annoy your favourite booze houses with your great ideas till they do it for you. And food houses, for that matter – last year, Mamor Chocolate Szalon ran chocolate and beer pairing sessions. The possibilities are endless!
Good Beer Week, if you’re not in the loop, is a week-long celebration of everything beer related – especially craft beer – timed to coincide with the international beer awards, so you can expect to have the best of the best in attendance. It only started in 2011, but the concept took off like a frog in a sock. Last year there were over 90 events, from brewer dinners – where the top beer dudes and dames in the world were on hand to be admired and answer questions – to masterclasses and scavenger hunts. In short, the bar has now been set pretty high, and so the plan is not necessarily to build the number of events, but rather continue to up the quality and diversity, according to fest co-founder Miro Bellini.
Time Out’s kind of hoping that someone will go all Mythbusters and test whether you can in fact swim in beer. Someone told us last month that you would definitely drown because of the density and it’s made us sad (and curious) ever since.
The time to start making those ideas into something more than talk is now, friends, so start planning, read the case studies on the Good Beer Week site, and get them in before November 30.
