Time Out Melbourne

Wine bar bottle-shop hybrids are popping up all over town, giving you unprecedented access to great wines at bargain prices

Bellota Wine Bar

An offshoot of the boutique Prince Wine Store, here you can get vintage wines at retail prices and drink them in the sleek bar next door with a bucket of oysters on the side. Corkage is $15, or nada for bottles over $80.

City Wine Shop

The serious wino’s best friend, City Wine Shop has been allowing you to down their rare European and Australian bottle stocks while sitting amongst wine crates or out on Spring Street for years.

The Evelyn Hotel

Ah, the Evelyn. Not only does the pub have street seats, a rooftop and live gigs, you can also grab any wine from the attached bottle-shop, with no corkage fee. They even let you take the dregs home, and you can buy snacks from Brunswick Street to eat on premises. Cheap date sorted.

Harry and Frankie

This shiny new wine-shop-cum-bar in Port Melbourne is selling and serving local and international wines for $15 corkage as well as craft beers, grappa and their own house blend on tap for $20 a carafe and plenty of dairy to match.

The Tasting Table Wine Shop

Tasting, as the name suggests, is regularly on offer at this boutique Armadale shop, but so is drinking. Try before you buy, and then settle in with charcuterie board.
