Time Out Melbourne

This venue is closed

The name gives it all away really. Gertrude's Brown Couch is a cosy venue that fits in well with the quirky charms of Gertrude Street. The comfy front bar, adorned with local art work, gives way to an even cosier little band room upstairs, and it's here that Gertrude really comes into its own.

More alternative and experimental than run of the mill, many aspiring young Melbourne artists have cut their teeth in this welcoming training ground. The locals are the friendliest bunch, and everyone's up for giving new talent a go, which is refreshing in what can become a jaded industry.
