Time Out Melbourne

A CBD bar that's a guaranteed party

For years this upper-level Swanston Street bar has served as the watering hole for RMIT students and cheapskates alike. Many a fight has been settled and romance has bloomed upon that girthy smoking deck, encouraged by cheap beers and low lighting.

Somewhat a Revolver of the CBD, they play host to indie bands and have DJs playing sets until breakfast time on the weekends. They've also recently done over their food offering and are now serving a mixed bag of American classics from deep friend mac'n'cheese balls to fried green tomato burgers.

As good for a 3pm pint as a 3am last port of call, Lounge is like a reliable old jacket – something familiar to slip into when you just want a dark nook, a jug of beer and some fried chicken.

It's not the flashest venue in town, but they do what they do well.
