Yes, it’s partner dancing but you need not emotionally blackmail someone into accompanying you to class. Everybody gets into a big circle of leads and followers and you rotate partners as you learn new moves to add to your blues-dancing repertoire.
You all wear nametags so people can address you by your first name when they ask you if you could kindly stop maiming their toes. Plus they dim the lights for a social dance with a DJ spinning blues classics and Amy Winehouse tunes afterwards, which comes free with your class.
