Any burlesque performer will tell you there are a million ways to titillate and wiggling a hula hoop around your body is definitely one of them. If your timing’s right you can join this short course run by the House of Burlesque from time to time, or seek out instructor Karen, a.k.a. Miss Ellaneous for private classes.
You’d think the extra padding around the waist you may have gained since you last hula hooped as a kid would help, but there’s still a lot of balance, timing and concentration involved. Although it’s not easy to start out with, you will be whooping by the end of the hour-long class when you manage to twirl, toss and catch the hoop without dropping it or crashing it into a display cabinet and sending a boxes nipple tassles flying. Which is exactly what happened but I was still welcomed back there afterwards.
