Day Rave with Chris Liebing and Kaiserdisco

Brown Alley
June 10

From 2pm Chris Liebing and Kaiserdisco bring the beat to a committed crowd of technofiles at Brown Alley. Travelling all the way from his hometown of Germany for the gig, Liebing says, “Australian crowds are very friendly, enthusiastic and appreciative, they are some of the nicest people I could imagine playing for.” The success of the day-rave Liebing attributes to: “the simple reason that they’re unconventional and different. Day raves prove that sound is not dependent on situations or locations, but an universal language that brings people together.” Joining Liebing on the bill is German duo Kaiserdisco on their first-ever Australian tour.

Lockdown Jail Rave

Royal Melbourne Hotel
June 10

The master of fidget house is coming back to Australia after a three-year absence to show us colony folk how they celebrate Queen's Birthday in the motherland. For those who have been living under a rock for a few years, Switch’s list of collaborations reads like a top 40 chart list, having worked with the likes of M.I.A, Beyonce and Christina Aguilera and remixed a stupid number of big names including Kesha, Robbie Williams, Basement Jaxx and Mika. There’s a cricket team-worth of Aussie support DJs to keep the day bouncing including Boogs, Spacey Space, Stevie Mink, Mike Metro, Adam Bartas and Benson.

Royal Doof

Buangor
June 8-11

Possibly the ultimate Queen's Birthday day-dance event, Royal Doof goes for two big nights and four days out in the middle of nowhere, where all there is to do is dance til you drop, then wake up and do it all over again. It’s a winter festival and you’re sleeping outside, so make sure you bring lots of warm things, or things to keep you warm. The aim of the weekend is to push your dance limits, and the programmers have picked a diverse range of acts covering every dance subgenre. Line-up includes dark psy/killer psy legend Menog (Portugal), trance/psy specialist Mad Maxx (USA), John Phantasm (UK) pumping out the best psychedelic sounds and Mekkanikka (Spain) giving us the ultimate fusion of electronica, trance and psychedelic. If you don’t need a day off work by the end of this long weekend festival, you’re doing it wrong.
