Andee Frost from Animals Dancing dishes the dirt on what they do
Where's the party at?
We run a monthly underground house party in the basement of the Mercat Cross Hotel, where we invite some of our favourite international record selectors along, to come and play extended sets – sometimes up to seven hrs while we dance around like a bunch of wild animals with old friends and new ones too.
What makes an Animals Dancing gig different?
There's a certain amount of voodoo down in that basement which makes for a pretty amazing atmosphere. Most people come to our parties to dance and listen to great music – if you don’t know anyone at the start of the night you will be sure to have made a few new friends by the end. We also give our guest DJs free reign to play for as long as they like.
What is your dream gig?
Larry Heard, three chairs, Larry Levan, Ron Hardy and a 24-hour licence with no sound restrictions so we can party all day.
When can people catch the next Animals Dancing gig?
Our next party is a bit of a special one. We have a double bill in the basement to kick off the Queen's Birthday long weekend, featuring Tom Trago from Holland joining our returning mate Jacques Renault who sold out the basement last time he played for us.
