Melbourne: Fair 16ºC | 7ºC

The dingy Ding Dong has had a major refurb! Under the guidance of Bill Walsh – former Cherry Bar overlord and Cosmic Psychos drummer – Melbourne's black cavern is now an airy, light-filled joint with separate bar for supping and snacking. An epicentre of alternative, grungy cool, it both supports local acts and plays host to big international bands wanting to warm-up before festival shows. The club kicks on well after they leave the stage, too.
