Time Out Melbourne

The funniest time of the year is almost upon us; here are the shows you won't want to miss

This year, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is turning 30, and pulling out all the stops to celebrate. In three decades, it has grown from a program of 56 shows across 33 venues to last year's record of 550 shows in 145 venues, becoming one of the world's largest and most respected comedy festivals.

While April might seem far away, there is a whole swag of big-name funnypeople who have already announced their tours, and tickets won't hang around for long. So far, we're looking forward to seeing Arj Barker, Anne Edmonds, Celia Pacqoula, Charlie Pickering, Hannah Gadsby (pictured), Joel Creasey, Judith Lucy, Lawrence Leung, Matt Okine, Nazeem Hussain, Paul Foot, Sam Simmons, Sarah Millican, Tom Ballard, Wil Anderson and more.

Visit the MICF website for the full list, and stay tuned for further announcements.
