How do classic Australian novels compare to their big screen retellings?
It seems like every recent film had to be a book first. (Or a comic. Or a TV show. Or a board game about plastic battleships.) But Hollywood has always looked to literature for inspiration, and Australia is no different.
Cinema Nova’s regular ‘Page To Picture’ evenings are joining with Text Publishing to celebrate classic Australian novels and their adaptations. After screenings, a panel of experts will examine the source material ranging from 1901's My Brilliant Career to 1994's Stiff.
Oct 3: Stiff by Shane Maloney. 6.45pm. $21-$23.
