Melbourne's HRAFF (Human Rights Arts & Film Festival) will this January premiere the highly anticipated West of Memphis
Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) presents West of Memphis, a documentary that follows the story of a triple child murder in Arkansas in 1993 and the consequences of the failure of the American justice system. The plight of the accused – Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley – became a high-profile case, attracting campaign support from the likes of Johnny Depp, Metallica, Henry Rollins, the Dixie Chicks and Eddie Vedder.
If you've seen the Paradise Lost trilogy of documentaries on the same subject, this will still be an intriguing addition – and if you haven't, prepare to become engrossed. The screening is a fundraiser for the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival this May
