Israeli films and international movies on Jewish themes are in the spotlight again as the Jewish International Film Festival returns. In 2013 there will be more than 40 critically acclaimed films programmed by director Eddie Tamir. Highlights include:
Fill the Void (2012)

Rock the Casbah (2012)
Young Israeli soldiers are charged with guarding a refugee camp on the Gaza strip where the refugees are mostly children. It's a vivid depiction of the pointlessness of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Last of the Unjust (2013)
Claude Lanzmann, who made the ten-hour Shoah documentary on the Holocaust, contributes a doco about a Czech Jew who was accused of collaborating with the Nazis.
Hannah Arendt (2012)
Barbara Sukowa stars as the philosopher and political theorist who reported on the trial of Adolf Eichmann in the 1960s.
Lucia Puenzo directs this fictional tale about the escape of the notorious mastermind behind the Third Reich’s experiments to create a master race using the ‘perfect specimen’.
