Darebin is bringing all the kites, music and family fun-times you'll ever need

This event has finished

This festival-in-a-festival (True North, that is) is a family-friendly fiesta of music, arts and of course, kites. Once you've created your own colourful contraption at a kite-making workshop, grab a bite to eat from a food stall, sit on the grass and watch it soar over the picturesque Edwardes Park lake.

While you're there, the festival's musical lineup is more than worthwhile. Start your morning by dancing to Melbourne band All Day Fritz, featuring John Flemming of comedy music duo Scared Weird Little Guys. Stay for dancing and performing arts workshops, and make sure you don't miss Miss Eileen and King Lear – the indie rock side project to the up-and-coming eccentric country group Perch Creek Family Jug Band.
