Time Out launch Melbourne’s best entertainment app – and it’s FREE!
The Time Out and SMIRNOFF iPhone app features over 1000 things to do in Melbourne - events, restaurants, bars, clubs, gigs, films and festivals all mapped and updated every day.
The app is free thanks to our friends at SMIRNOFF and produced in Australia by world-leading app developers TigerSpike.
Features:
Location driven: the app uses geo-location to pinpoint your location and show you Time Out recommended activities nearby, complete with event previews.
Sociability: the app lets you invite friends along through Facebook, Twitter or email.
Rating: You can rate all events and venues and share their rating. All ratings are stored and count towards an overall community rating.
Regular updates: event listings and previews are updated on a daily basis so you can access up-to-date information on all the latest thrills and spills in Melbourne.
Be inspired: Chose ‘Inspire Me’ and the app will select 10 random upcoming events for you – never be bored again.
Julian Peterson, Time Out’s Marketing & Online Director said, “Time Out now has free iPhone apps showcasing bars, restaurants, gigs, films and entertainment in both Melbourne and Sydney. The apps are very similar but we will leave it to Sydneysiders and Melbournians to decide which one lists better restaurants and bars.”
“The Time Out app is all any Melbournian needs to plan their entire social life – restaurants, bars, films, arts and gigs are all accessible and shareable on the move. Time Out Melbourne’s entertainment listings are definitely one of the most useful things to be placed on an app this year.”

Time Out unveil new look website in Melbourne
Time Out unveiled their new look website in Melbourne this week ending months of anticipation of a national roll out.
The site features an updated, contemporary, cleaner layout plus added functionality, searches and social integration. The site is updated daily, feeds event and venue reviews to Nokia Ovi Maps and publishes a weekly newsletter.
Julian Peterson, Marketing & Online Director said “We are delighted to finally launch in Melbourne – we are building a team of local writers and reviewers who are hard at work discovering the best of Melbourne’s arts, entertainment, nightlife and food.”
“The site is live in beta and we are actively seeking views and comments from users as we proceed with an intensive period of development. There are a mass of new features to go live over the coming months.”
“The Time Out Melbourne and SMIRNOFF iPhone app is in development and will launch shortly bringing all of the events, films and venues on the site to the iPhone.”
“There has been a very positive reaction from advertisers as Time Out move beyond Sydney to national coverage. The new site is audited by Audit Bureaux of Australia. Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide will follow Melbourne onto the new style site over the next two quarters.”
