Discover the steampunk movement in all its Victorian sci-fi glory

Still not quite sure what to make of steampunk? If you've ever seen men and women sporting Victorian-style top hats and metal goggles and wondered what the heck it was all about, then you need to come and check out the first-ever public gallery of the movement in Australia. More than ever, steampunk – which was born in literature in the '80s – is taking hold on contemporary culture in enthusiasts who dress in the style, in literature and in design. Some say it speaks to a desire for authenticity and an alternative history of sustainable production, and others are fascinated by the look or the technology itself.

In this mash-up of past, future and fantasy, encounter steampunk in the forms of jewellery, shoes, time machines, ray guns, photography, music and more.
