The legacy of the strongest submarines in the southern hemisphere

Join Tim Smith, executive director of Heritage Victoria, at the Shrine of Remembrance for this informative talk regarding the onset of WWI and Australia’s ownership of E-class submarines AE1 and AE2, the most technologically advanced submarines in the southern hemisphere. In September 1914 AE1 was lost at sea with all hands. On 25 April 1915 AE2 became the first submarine to breach the Dardanelles military defences in Turkey.
