Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

The State Library's wonderfully ambitious exhibition Victor Hugo: Les Misérables from Page to Stage is a celebration of creativity. Victor Hugo's, for a start – but also the talented composers, designers and performers who brought the timeless musical to life.

For three Saturdays until October, the exhibition is running a series of workshops for kids aged seven to 11 and adults. You'll have the opportunity to write a song (Sat Aug 23. Children 10.30-11.30am; adults 12.30-2.30pm), design costumes (Sat Sep 20. Children 10.30-11.30am; adults 12.30-2.30pm) and create sets (Sat Oct 18. Children 10.30-11.30am; adults 12.30-2.30pm).

No prior experience is necessary – just a willingness to learn from some of the state's most respected composers, costumiers and set designers. The sessions are free, but bookings are essential.
