Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

The turbulent story of the writing of Victor Hugo's 1862 Les Misérables manuscript is just as epic as the fictional narrative itself. Exile, revolution, secret love affairs – it's all here at the State Library's Victor Hugo: Les Misérables from Page to Stage exhibition. For one afternoon in August, renowned translator Julie Rose will be giving a talk on the manuscript, touching on Hugo's life at the time, the printing of the novel, and the huge reception it received on publication. The talk is free with entry into the exhibition, but booking online is essential.
