Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

Unusually, Grammy-nominated Indian musician Debashish Bhattacharya made the Hawaiian slide guitar his instrument of choice. Even more unusually, he was three years old at the time.

Since those tender years, in which his father had gifted him the guitar, Bhattacharya has become gifted at lap slide, even leaving his parents at just nine years old to study under the tutelage of Brij Bhushan Kabra.

He's in Melbourne for one show only, before flying off to perform at the Adelaide Guitar Festival. Catch his Hindustani-informed set on his 24-string lap guitar, as well as his more humble 14-string lap guitar and 4-string lap steel ukulele.
