Time Out Melbourne

This event has finished

Joe Henry has long been a steadfast influence on a slew of American genres. From jazz to rock to country, his poetic compositions have often upheld the poetic irony of early Bruce Springsteen with the gravel-throated delivery of Tom Waits.

For nearly 25 years, his influence on music has not only affected the output of other artists, but created a kind of noise that is reminiscent of so many and yet so distinctly Joe Henry with deep instrumental sounds offsetting the often bleak themes in his lyrics.

As prolific as he is influential, Joe Henry's latest tour to Australia marks the release of his 13th studio album Invisible Hour and will see him performing an acoustic mix of new material with scarcely heard older music.

Supporting him will be NSW blues and roots crooner Heath Cullen.
