A young gun on the cello plays the Australian National Acamedy of Music
The Australian National Academy of Music presents a night with award winning cellist Nicolas Altstaedt.
Of mixed German and French descent, Altstaedt was one of Boris Pergamenschikow's last students in Berlin where he is still working with Eberhard Feltz.
Altstaedt went on to become the new Artistic Director of the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival 2012, one of the BBC’s New Generation Artists for 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 and the prestigious Credit Suisse Young Artist 2010.
At only 30 years of age, Altstaedt has performed as a soloist with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, The Simon Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela and the Vienna Philharmonic.
Altstaedt will make his debut at the Academy with a program that includes Fauré Piano Quartet No. 2 in G minor; Dutilleux Trois strophes sur le nom de Sacher (for cello solo); and Honegger Cello Concerto.
