Ingrid Michaelson has been favourably compared to Regina Spektor and Feist, although we reckon she has a harder edge. And those dames don't break out into tap dancing. She returns to Australia for the first time since a string of sold-out gigs in 2010, with a new album, Human Again, in tow. She'll be joined by special guest Greg Laswell, and she's figuratively getting HUGE with stints on Late Night With Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show WIth Jay Leno, so you should get amongst it while you still can.

Ingrid, what are you most looking forward to seeing in Melbourne?

I have only been to Melbourne once before and didn't have the time to see any of the sights. This time, I would love to go to the Queen Victoria Market and get a jam donut!

Can you describe the stage show you’ll be bringing over this time?

I am coming with my two female bandmates, Allie and Bess. I love singing and harmonising with them. We channel the Andrews Sisters a lot and sometimes I lose my own voice in the blend. We will be performing a lot of songs off of my record, Human Again, and some older songs too with a stripped down, acoustic feel.

You adopt many famous personas in the ‘Blood Brothers’ video clip. Did adopting any persona in particular prove unnerving or special?

Amy Winehouse was strange because of her recent passing and also because the makeup artist did such a good job that I looked just like her.  Everyone in the studio audibly gasped when the wig was put on.
