Seven-time ARIA Award winner David Bridie is set to tour Australia this year with his new album, Wake. A renowned local songwriter and composer, Bridie is respected for his whip-smart perspectives on Australia’s people, history and politics. He casts the net even wider with Wake, in which he jumps from love stories, to the Middle East, from asylum seekers to late-night walks.
Not just a writer for himself, Bridie has composed music for many films and TV programmes, includingThe Man Who Sued God (2001) and The Straits (2012 ABC TV drama series). He's travelled far and wide these past 12 months, even staging a large concert for the London Olympics Festival.
After the success of his first two bands, Not Drowning, Waving and My Friend the Chocolate Cake, it's likely that Wake will afford him the same status as a solo artist. Catch him in Melbourne this July.
