Spoil your senses with world-class music, food and wine
Artistic directior of Julia Fredersdorff will be offering up a sublime mix of theatre and music for the seventh Peninsula Summer Music Festival. An assembly of more than 50 Australian and international artists from Australia, New York, France, Germany, UK and the Netherlands will fill ten days on the Mornington Peninsula.
Program highlights include headline event, Dido and Aeneas. Billed as a ‘choreographic opera’, the genre-busting spectacle will have everyone talking. Sasha Waltz is a superstar of the dance theatre world, and she and her troupe have reimagined Henry Purcell’s Baroque opera about the ill-fated love between the Queen of Carthage and her warrior-lover Aeneas, in a spectacular staging that features a giant water tank on stage and a prologue danced underwater.
The Apollo Ensemble will unveil the hidden gems of 17th-century Jewish music and the opening celebration concert, A Festive Rackett, features horticulturally themed music from Renaissance England. Check out the Peninsula Festival programme for more details.
